Lawyerswithkids.com is a website designed to help parents who work in the legal profession. It has been set up by two solicitors, one who specialised in commercial law and the other from a criminal defence background.

When we became parents, we found it very difficult to find a way to continue our full-time legal careers and care for our children. Although from very different legal backgrounds, it seemed to us that most recruitment consultants and law firms were not being creative enough in seeking to find flexible working solutions for working parents. At home, we felt isolated from our former work colleagues, and found it difficult to meet other lawyers in similar situations.

We decided to set up the website to provide a means of communication for mothers and fathers alike, working in the public and private sector. It is for inhouse lawyers, barristers in chambers, paralegals, members of the judiciary as well as solicitors.

Our goal is to provide a community through which you can keep up with the news, read the blog, comment on our articles and engage with others who have the same problem - how to balance career and parenthood in one of the most demanding professions. We are parents and lawyers. We are independent. We are not a campaigning body or charity. But we do believe in fairness, equality, transparency and accountability.
